The Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, together with other activists, systematically collects information on cases of intentional killings of women by men in Bulgaria, as reported in online media publications. This activity began in 2018, with the data first published on ubita.org and later on spasena.org. At present, it is carried out as part of the project Mapping the Murders of Women in Bulgaria 2018-2023.
The list presented here is based on media monitoring and refers to journalistic materials covering specific fatal cases. The list does not claim to be exhaustive, and the actual number of women killed is likely higher. The information is updated periodically.
40-year-old Evgenia Belyovska from Sofia dies in the hospital after the man she had been living with as a de facto partner beat her to death and broke her neck.
44-year-old woman from the village of Banitsa, Vratsa region, is beaten to death by her husband.

66-year-old woman died in her home in Stara Zagora. A 69-year-old man was detained as complicit in the crime; he confessed that the previous day he had beaten the woman.
35-year-old woman is beaten to death in Sozopol during a property dispute. A 58-year-old man is detained.
Dr. Tanya Kostadinova, a doctor from Burgas, died after two months in a coma, caused by a brutal beating by her former colleague and partner.
68-year-old woman from Sliven is killed in her home by her 46-year-old son.
66-year-old woman from Sliven is killed with particular cruelty. A 74-year-old man she had been living with as a de facto partner is arrested.
A 37-year-old woman was shot dead on the street in the Stolipinovo district of Plovdiv by her husband.
44-year-old woman from Parvomay is killed in her home. A 21-year-old man, an acquaintance of the victim’s daughter, is detained. According to the authorities the main motive for the crime is personal.
Selina, 25-year-old mother of three children, is killed in front of her children in the village of Kraynitsi, Dupnitsa region. A 36-year-old man, father of the children, with whom the victim had been living as a de facto partner, is detained.
A 48-year-old woman from Varna was found dead with stab wounds. Her 24-year-old son D.E., who is suspected of using high-risk drugs, has been arrested for the murder.
A 62-year-old woman was murdered in her home in Peshtera with a kitchen knife during a robbery. The victim's 48-year-old neighbor, who had criminal record, was arrested.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of his mother (47 years old), his aunt (73) and his sister (13) in their home in the village of Lyulyakovo, Ruen Municipality, Burgas Region.
An 80-year-old woman was found dead in her home in the village of Studenitsa, Shumen region. The victim's 57-year-old son was detained. He made partial confessions to beating the woman.
Stiliyana, 45, shot dead at her workplace in Sofia. The suspect in the murder is her 55-year-old ex-partner, who was found immediately afterwards, having taken his own life in his car.
A 41-year-old woman was beaten to death at a construction site in Sofia. A security guard at the site is suspected - the connection to the victim is unclear.
A 76-year-old woman and her 21-year-old grandson were shot with a hunting rifle by the woman's husband, 82-year-old former military serviceman Petko Minkov, after which he committed suicide. The case is from the village of Popovitsa, Plovdiv region.
70-year-old woman is killed in Vidin, her husband is detained – he stood in front of his house with bloodstained hands.
64-year-old woman is killed in Burgas. Her son, who has a criminal record, is detained. He made full confessions.
79-year-old woman is killed in Suvorovo by the man she had been living with as a de facto partner. He ran her over several times with a car.
96-year-old woman is killed in the Sofia neighbourhood “Svoboda.” It is presumed the murder was committed with scissors. Her nephew is detained.
54-year-old woman is killed in Plovdiv. The deceased had bruises on the neck area and abrasions. The murder was committed by her son.
42-year-old woman is killed in Cherven Bryag. Six stab wounds are found on her body, the woman had been a victim of prolonged domestic violence. The murder was committed by her husband, who killed himself afterwards.
61-year-old woman is killed by her son in Sevlievo. He inflicted stab wounds in the neck area of his mother which resulted in her death.
55-year-old woman is killed by her husband in the village of Hlyabovo, Topolovgrad region. The man fatally struck his wife on the head with a wooden stick.
68-year-old woman is killed by her son in Razlog. The woman died after being stabbed in the chest.
32-year-old woman is killed in front of her four-year-old child in Burgas. Witnesses state that after a quarrel in a public place, the husband of the murdered woman stabbed her with a knife and fled.
Silvia K. is killed in Sofia by Orlin Gigov, with whom she had been living as a de facto partner. The perpetrator is well known to the police, four other women had been victims of Gigov, and only in three years the prosecution had received 10 complaints against him.
29-year-old woman is killed in Pazardzhik by her former boyfriend. The body shows traces of multiple stabbings.
82-year-old woman is killed in her home in the village of Mokresh, Montana region, on July 10.
88-year-old woman is beaten to death in Yambol region on July 5, her son is detained.

62-year-old woman is killed in the center of Omurtag by her brother. The two argued, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman in front of numerous citizens.
71-year-old woman and her 45-year-old daughter are shot dead in the village of Chernogorovo, Pazardzhik region, by 71-year-old Stefan Divekov, nicknamed “The Predator” – husband and father of the deceased. Shortly afterwards the perpetrator killed himself.
